Ventec International Group has announced its membership of the Printed Circuit Board Association of America (PCBAA), supporting the organization’s dedication to promote the interests of PCB manufacturers and suppliers in the US.
By joining PCBAA, Ventec is strengthening its commitment to the US PCB sector under the global imperative for a sustainable and resilient electronics industry. PCBAA works to support domestic production of PCBs, also advocating for initiatives that create fair market conditions. Its role recognizes the importance of the PCB to electronic assemblies and hence the value of supply chain security.
"As the foundation for every electronic circuit and system, each aspect of the PCB is important, from performance and reliability to assuring supply of bare boards to keep electronic product assembly lines running,” said Mark Goodwin, COO Ventec International Group. "The PCBAA represents the interests of US PCB makers at all levels, including government and legislators, to ensure that PCB manufacturers here can thrive. We are excited at this opportunity to actively take part and help shape the industry here for a strong future."
About the PCBAA
PCBAA is a consortium of U.S.-based companies that educate, advocate, and support legislation and policies to increase domestic production of printed circuit boards, or PCBs. PCBs are the central nervous system of microelectronics. Over the past 20 years PCB production has moved to other countries, primarily in Asia, as overseas costs were driven down by foreign government subsidies. The U.S. once produced over 30% of the world’s PCBs. Today the number is 4%. This dependence on other countries creates risk for both business and national security. Without PCBs, computer chips cannot communicate with the devices or systems they power. From everyday consumer electronics to critical national defense systems, modern technology depends on PCBs.
